Considering An English Cream Golden Retriever Puppy? Information To Help You Decide

When I took the leap of faith to get my kids their first pet, I was stunned by how difficult it was to teach them proper care techniques. I ended up enrolling them in grooming and care classes through my local pet store. While there, we learned a lot of tips and tricks for taking care of many common household pets. I knew that others could benefit from this information, so I decided to create this site to help. Whether you've had family pets for a while or you're getting ready to buy your kids their first, this site can help you be adequately prepared.

If you want a puppy for your family and are considering an English cream golden retriever, below is information about this breed to help you decide. You can then start looking for this adorable puppy at a breeder or at a dog shelter.

Temperament and Personality

English cream golden retrievers are energetic dogs and are friendly. If you are an active family, this dog would be perfect for you. They will love to go on walks and hikes and do many outdoor activities with you. You will always hear the golden retriever is a great family dog. This is true because they are loving and affectionate. If you have small children in your home, you can expect your dog to protect and care for them. They are also friendly with people that visit you or people they see while out. They get along well with other dogs and may even like a cat if they grow up with one. These dogs are smart and also require mental stimulation.

If you are not an active family, your dog will not get enough exercise and will not be socialized. This will result in an unhappy English cream golden retriever. This can lead to problems as your dog may start acting out. Consider taking your dog to a trainer as they are intelligent and learn easily.

Grooming Your Golden Retriever

The main thing you must do is brush your English cream golden retriever. If you do not, they will shed and you will have dog hair on your furniture, clothing, etc. Their coat is long and can also become tangled. Brush them a few times a week or more often if needed.

Bathe your golden retriever at least monthly or more often if they get dirty. This will keep their coat healthy. One thing to watch out for with a golden retriever is hot spots. These are sores that develop on their skin that can be very painful for them. There are medications that you can purchase from a pet store to treat these spots. Do this early as this can prevent a trip to the veterinarian. Take your golden to a groomer as needed. Their coats will become too long, especially during the summer months. The groomer can also trim their nails and clean their ears for you.

If you get an English cream golden retriever puppy, make an appointment with the veterinarian soon after you bring it home.
